NACCS Pacific Northwest Regional Conference
and the Latino/a Northwest Research Symposium

The National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies (NACCS) Pacific Northwest FOCO requests paper and panel proposals for its regional conference to be held at Washington State University, Pullman.

The Latina/o Northwest Research Symposium is collaborative interdisciplinary research symposium that seeks to bring together senior faculty, junior faculty, graduate students and community leaders from different academic units, regional campuses and communities to share their current research projects on Chicano/as and Latino/as in the Pacific Northwest region.

Interdisciplinary papers and panels that address the following topics are especially welcome:

In what ways is the Latina/Northwest unique from other regions?
Chicana/os Latina/os and the Environment
Chicana/o Cultures in the Northwest
Creating Latino/a Visibility and/or Challenging White Dominance
Raza and Immigration and Struggles for Citizenship
Latina/o Labor and Politics in the Pacific Northwest
Status of Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies in the Northwest
Chicana/o Latina/o Access to Education, Reforming The Educational Systems Of The Northwest
Coalition Building across Communities Of Color

Papers should be 20 minutes, panels will be one hour and half (including questions). Students, Faculty, and Community members are all encouraged to submit. Proposals: should have abstracts of no more than 150 words and must include a list of contacts (phone, email, snail mail) for all panelists and chairs.
Deadline for proposals:  January 15, 2006.

Registration is free and open, however we ask that you consider contributing to the establishment of a Pacific Northwest Foco Fund. Contributions to the fund will help us organize Foco events in our region, at the NACCS national meeting, and to establish a fellowship fund to help students in our area travel to the national meeting. Please make all checks or money orders to NACCS and that you indicate in the memo line “donation to Pacific Northwest Foco Fund.” Mail all contributions to the registration address below.

This is a suggested sliding scale please feel free to contribute as much as you can:
